digby, i love you, man. really. your ability to present a common sense argument that convinces irrefutably is most excellent. i have made similar comments in the past in your support, but I must take umbrage and scold you for your naievty. I think you have it backwards. emphasizing the importance of the election in light of the crimes committed misses the obvious and plays right into their hands. DUDE, these crimes and the concomitant extraconstitutional power grab have occurred precisely because the elections are no longer seen as a significant check on their ability to remain in power. Where has everyone been during the last two presidential elections and during those off year elections as well? Is it just me that sees black box voting and similar electoral problems as the clear source of empowerment of these assholes? Exactly where has the electoral process been improved in such a fashion as to assure that they won't again steal whatever power they need? Does anyone think they'd really be acting so outrageously if the next elction isn't at least perceived by their politcal henchmen (Rove, et al) as already in the bag?

correction: this should have been addressed to tristero, rather than digby. love tristero too. brilliant, both of them. the point is still relevant. these elections will be stolen, as will every other election until this long night of fascism ends.
